Do you want to be able to access your home or work computer from any where?  There is a free tool from www.logmein.com that allows you to do just that.

Logmein allows you to sign up from their web site and add your home or work computer to be accessible remotely.  You will be able to see and control the desktop of your home or work computer as if you were sitting right in front of it. The set up is also very easy.  Sign up at www.logmein.com.  Go to the computer that you want to control.  Log into the www.logmein.com page from that computer.  Then go through the process to add that computer.  This will download a program and install it onto your computer, making it ready to be accessible.  You'll also set up the password to access this computer.

Once all that is done, your computer is now ready to be accessible remotely from anywhere that has internet and a web browser.  So to test, go to another computer in another location such as a relative or friend's computer or one at the library and login on the www.logmein.com page.  Once logged in, you'll see your computer listed as available for remote control.  Go through the remote control process and you'll see that you are at someone's house or the library, but you are controlling your home computer.

I use Logmein for controlling and managing a lot of remote computers easily.  It's great because it has these features:

• It's free (they offer other services but the remote control part is free)
• Easy to set up
• Secure so you don't have to worry about someone else getting access to your computers
• Works behind firewalls so you don't need any ports or special configuration for it to work
